Planting A Tree to Remember is a symbolic way to pay tribute to a life while taking part in a larger effort to protect and maintain the beauty of our world. For many who are grieving, this brings more comfort and sense of connection than they ever imagined. This living tribute is a gift that will last and give back for generations.
You become part of something bigger. We work with over 9,000 funeral homes across North America, which allows our forestry partners to conduct large-scale reforestation projects in memory of those who are no longer with us. When A Tree to Remember is gifted, a new tree is planted to restore a forest in need. As one life ends, another life begins.

The Gulf Coast, with its rich history, is heavily impacted by hurricanes, which cause extensive damage to communities and natural resources. This project aims to address these damages by focusing on bottomland hardwood reforestation, upland longleaf, and pine reforestation to create a more resilient landscape.

Jack Pine, Black Spruce, White Spruce.
Location:
Ontario
Trees are being planted in the Ogoki Forest region of central Ontario to help recover from the devastating wildfires in Canada, which killed or displaced hundreds of thousands of animals and contaminated local rivers and lakes. Reforesting these areas will reintroduce native species, providing shelter for moose, supporting berry bushes for bears, and protecting woodland caribou from predation.

What's Included
Over 6 million memorial trees have been planted at more than 50 reforestation sites so far. Your tree contributions have helped revitalize forests all over North America. These forests clean air, combat climate change, protect wildlife, and more! We’d like to thank you in advance for your contribution to reviving and protecting the environment. Together we’ll leave a better Earth behind.
After an order is placed, we work with our forestry partner to select the best planting location based on areas of greatest need and the closest available impacted area to the funeral home. Factors such as climate, soil conditions, and ecosystem compatibility determine the type of tree planted.
Selecting the right tree and planting it in the right place at the right time of year are essential to ensuring your tree will thrive, especially once fully grown.
At this time, we do not offer location customization, but we continue to evaluate future options.
For U.S. locations, planting occurs within 30 days of purchase, unless weather conditions (such as winter storms) require the tree to be allocated for planting in the next available season. For locations with harsh winters, including Michigan and other northern states, trees purchased in winter will be scheduled for planting in spring through fall.
For Canada, any purchases made in winter will be allocated for planting in the spring through fall planting window. In all cases, an email will be sent within 7 days of purchase confirming the designated planting location based on proximity to the funeral home, as well as any necessary seasonal adjustments.
The species of tree is selected by our forestry partner based on the region. They ensure that the chosen species align with local ecosystems, supporting biodiversity and long-term environmental health.
We receive planting verifications from our forestry partner within 30 days after the tree has been planted. Within 7 days of purchase confirming the designated planting location based on proximity to the funeral home. This includes planting maps that show the general area where your tribute tree has been placed. These maps allow you to see the broader impact of your memorial tree as part of a larger reforestation effort.
Our forestry partners collaborate with regional conservation groups, environmental organizations, and local planting teams to ensure trees are planted in the most suitable locations. For the memorial tree program these teams prioritize impacted areas closest to the funeral home.
Memorial trees are planted as part of larger reforestation efforts and are not individually marked. Because these trees contribute to restoring impacted forests and natural habitats, they are not intended for individual visits. However, you will receive information about the general area where your tree was planted, and updates on reforestation projects will be available in our annual tree planting report.
We do not place individual plaques or signs at tree planting sites. However, you will receive details about the specific planting project.
Every purchase includes a receipt of the transaction. However, we are not recognized as a charitable organization and therefore unable to provide you with tax deductible receipt.
